I have just been watching a dvd where  Ferre is  preparing for  a concert...man sound system preparation is hard. They start from around 3pm up to the very end when the show starts..

the sound engineer tries to get him to accept shoddy work he does not...hahaha

  It's only hard for those who don't understand sound and can't read the settings on the instruments which are all in English! For most it's mainly guess work and they pick up with the more experience they have.

Yes, it's the mixer which is critical, the sound engineer has to understand what he's doing and understand the band's musical arrangement to know how best to set up and this was an important concert so the sound had to be on point.
If you've noticed at some concerts especially for JB Mpiana, there are some parts where he asks the sound engineer who I believe is Roger, JB tells him '' Roger Son,synthé!'' he asks him to add gain,increase volume on the mixers for the synthé, I think it's on the telecommande live in concert video,initially,Roger had put gain on the rhythm guitar which is the lead on the dance telecommande then comes the synth before it goes into full sebene.
