which guitar would suit his style any suggestions?

Here's another question: Is it really in the guitar or in the skill of the guitar player. If a guitar player has the skill like Hadji or the likes of Flamme Kapaya, any guitar should do right? If one takes away the way the guitar itself sounds, a guitar is still a guitar right? 

But back to your original question, sorry, I got no suggestions.

Tell Hadji to consider any BC Rich guitar Warlock ,like this Warlock Edge which is the ultimate for that soloist with fury

Let him also consider making use of a good effects board so that he can alter the sound he's producing but am not saying he should use distortion in sebene!
It's unfortunate that i've just come back from a 6 week holiday so very broke otherwise i would have offered to get him one, i like the guy.

Yes,Steinberger is also good but i think it cost much more than BC Rich. I think a soloist like him needs the fiery BC Rich!

Steinberger GS will completely good for him something that Alain Makaba and Burkina Faso used to get that clear sound that would be beneficial for Hadji concerning sound.

At the end of the day most guitars $300+ sound relatively the same. There are some variances between them but with the effects that can be added, most people cant tell the difference in sound from one to another. I have owned a Mexican made Fender Strat and the more expensive counterpart of the American series...I preferred the sound of the Mexican version.  What is probably more important is the feel of the guitar to the player.
As far as the steinbergers are concerend, I also own one of those...by far my favorite. The only thing is they dont make them in that style anymore so your best bet is to go to ebay to buy one.  If its the exact same type as Makaba, you will pay $1300+ USD.  You can also find the cheaper similar looking ones (Steinberger Spirit) they go for $350+ USD. I have one of those too and they play pretty well too.

The sound of guitars does matter a lot, even with distortions. I have 3 different guitars, all sounds different when clean and with effects. If you want a sound like that of Diblo Dibala and that classic soukous sound, you should go for a Fender Strat, but not a cheap one because those don't have that characteristic rattling in the sound. Steinberger and most heavy metal guitars produce thinner sounds, ones you can hear on Extra Musica albums and on Wenge Albums where Makaba plays. If you want a fatter sound that lacks the rattling of Fender, you have to go for Gibson Les Paul or types that are similar in tone: Epiphone, Ibanez Studio series, Paul Reed Smith. Roxy Tshimpaka uses Epiphone guitar, his tone is the one Zaiko had in the beginning of 80's. Kinanga Boeing used Ibanez Studio, Zaiko used that type, too. The fatter the sound, the more jazzier it will be. The thinner, the more neutral.

If I were to choose, first I would decide which band has the tone I like and purchase accordingly. But comfortability matters as well. Also you should take the scale into consideration. Fender guitars have 22 frets, they cannot be used to play many songs that were played on 24 fret guitar. If you want to play songs that require those extra two frets, make sure to choose a guitar that is comfortable at the beginning of the neck, because if the neck is thick there, it will be a struggle to play.

Good analysis Bencuri and after all this, that's when BC Rich emerges as the victor, it's easy to handle especially when you want those sharp Flamme Kapaya ''telephone'' notes at the very top of the guitar head.

Bernado Chavez Rico it is, preferabley the "Mocking Bird" but for flexibility given his current role in Jet-set the Japanese Ibanez and Yamaha would be my pick...
