Then why did you doubt the guy? He's proved himself as a good singer in his vocal category, he's never changed from his Les Marquis days.

He's not really a newcomer, he's got quite a lot of experience having been with Blaise Bula before.

Makes you wonder why he stayed in the shadows for so long at Maison Mere or was he not in the reserve team for some time ?Has the experience and a wonderful voice...So much for the decision making abilities of some of these band leaders !!!

What i have observed is that in Congolese music you need to have certain attributes in order to be recognised. The voice alone will not work, dancing skills, looks, dressing et al really matter and this is how you find the likes of this guy,Eboa Lotin, Adjani, Kabose,Serge Mabiala and many other excellent have not had that recognition. Even the little boys Merlin Bouton and Café Roum have found themselves in the same situation. Just look at the Nicodem who was with Ferre, he's not really a good singer but Werrason gives him all the attention because of his looks,dressing,dance skills.

Sly, that is so true and so sad, looking even at the situation between Bouro Mpela and say Sam-Ilo Tshintou. To me Sam is a better singer but appeared to be a little 'rough'( for lack of a better word) and Geco had more airtime during their shared time in QL. While the band leaders have their reasons( looks,swag,dancing abilities) it makes us miss out on some very good acts were they allowed to shine. Too bad but maybe we have to live with it seeing as it is the 'system'

It also require strong personality with good organizational skills. Look at Allain Mpela for example, he is exceptional in singing and charisma but with no strong personality that can tie people around him.
