he said he joined the group in zenith days when there was heritier kibens chai and rio as PPU and he recalled a scene at jb's house or rehearsal where they all had to eat in same plate some rice along with bogus bompema who was there to work on th songs, and everyguy picked a fork or a spoon and it was wata and  bogus turn heritier picked the spoon and bogus the fork and heritier refused to switch with bogus and chai said vieux bogus just eat which got bogus mad and he finds it funny because he knows their age and bogus is younger than chai( surprising)
he joined thanks to titina and went through all hardships you can expect in clan wenge especially then(being slapped by a bodyguard, holding snare drums for seguin and titina and so on )
and with time as ali mbonda returned to maison mere he made it  on the list for bercy concert but jb was worried because in the zenith tour mbonda player nzuzi konga who shared with seguin ran away from hotel leaving his bags with loads of papers and stuff in it to pretend its clothes
but he made it and the day of trip one day before bercy and at airport in paris he got stopped during control as the guy found passport suspect,it was the days when congolese musicians used same passport for several people, and the guy was hesitating and he got scared and started praying because he saw that  some people were sent back to plane to be deported, and he also noticed that some who came as bcbg musicians were not musicians at all but ngulu guys especially with the huge list and he got so scared that he showed his hands to the guy and said "look at my hands i am the guy who will play percussion at bercy tomorrow"
and once in europe they were not paid as leaders considered that being taken to europe was a favor already and you had to do matolo like themselves to go back with gifts and so on which most musicians did not mind  basically only moaning when they were not receiving enough gifts and money from fans to forget what they had to expect from leaders
he was asked if bercy was full,he said yes but not sold out because of world trade, a lot of fans from UK america and co were afraid to travel as they planned because of their dodgy situation with papers
then once in the tour one of the ppu went to date an alain mpela sidekick which made it super hard for them with the old guard along with alain influencing jb to hate them, they'd perform in concerts several songs but it gets erased on cassettes like they sang just their song
he said also that he regretted never having played in an album for bcbg and could have played on soyons serieux but he came to studio without jb knowing which jb hates to death he likes to control who he calls in studio and jb gave him a rude answer which when he called few days after to "apologize" jb did not even remember his own reaction( lol thats typical him sometimes you have to remind him that he gave you a rude answer himself forgets it quick)
he went to studio session with kester and kester came  to studio walking normal then when he noticed he saw somebody he did not know as its engineer who contacted him jimmy he started his comic way of walking and talking and asked who he was and told him he was not easy to impress  and when jimmy played a song kester said "it was luck give him another song" and he gave him with his lips the way he wanted him to play and he managed to do it well and kester was impressed and gave him a nickname
he also talked about tutu caludji and bill clinton and he said bill was working with tutu in private  and that one day bill complained that  tutu took their work of what would become start of titanic generique to wenge4X4 and him jimmy told tutu you should be proud that  as a young guy like that your work is taken to a huge group like 4X4 and luckily wenge split and bill himself got chance to perform in wenge, which is why start of titanic and intervention rapide is similar with ali mbonda just giving to bill  something to replace what tutu already did at the start
and he said  in the street groups people were saying bill was doing animation like tutu and started calling him bill clinton because tutu was called tutu caludji bill clinton back then, unlike maison mere's version that he became bill clinton in maison mere

The imitation of Seguin was funny. Lol. And the part about King Kester made me laugh and sad at the same time (Vieux King should have lived longer, but I guess it wasn't God's wish).

Which Fally and Ferre albums did he participate in?

So Bill was originally just a dancer and also learning drums before switching to animation. No wonder he is a very good dancer.

I see. Being in Europe is financially liberating for these musicians. Atleast they get to have a fair deal for their work.

exactly he explained towards the end that if an europe based artist has his papers and is low profile and lucky to meet the good people you can live as a musician they'll get you as intermitten show with a number of hours of session to complete and you can get money from any album you play in

I always thought first that it was Jimmy Mbonda who played at Zenith, because of the way he was looking a little bit like Nzunzi Konga until that I watched an old interview where he explained that he PPU and that Bercy was his first trip to Europe.

So Ali Mbonda was still with Wenge BCBG when they left him behind in Kinshasa and waiting for them ? But why did he leave BCBG, was it that they contacted him by Maison Mere for the way that Shora Ekunde ran away in Europe ?

A strange move of Nzunzi Konga, playing at Zenith de Paris, going to Canada and running away when you are about to perform at Olympia. I've never heard of his name being and I never heard Caludji mentioning his name in those african and kinshasa-concerts VHS of Titanic, when he was about to go towards the mbonda to do that dance-move.

indeed he returned because some maison mere donors promised him things ,which they did not fulfill but he loved werra too much
konga was  not somebody much of a "ndulist" he was a super super strong christian(compared to other guys) i remember seguin used to taunt him "pasteur mbonda" and surely he was advised to run away

Ali has to be the unlickiest man ever. He went away too soon and then come back too late to Maison Mere to have any consistent benefit. If he had stayed in BCBG he would probably be Like Seguin or the trio JDL, RIO and Kibens

So JB Mpiana wasn’t happy the way Titina received European papers because his mariage with Nene?  Because Jimmy says that JB started to ask to every musician if they received papers on a sarcastic way.

no bro its was also because they almost got caught  in 2001 with the ngulu things,jb somehow regretted going back to kin now that he knew they were blocked in kin for years,he'd have rather they remained in europe and each musician looking for papers (should he not be arrested for ngulu of course)
but its true that him and alca it was not good anymore you know wenge,in a matter of days or weeks he gets married, plans an album snitched by jdl(which is where started jb's love for jdl) which is against the rules and the group and sees koffi coming at wedding,so it appeared like he had papers now  so he can leave to record album you know wenge and excessive "ko timbela batu"
but until today he confronts his main guys about european papers, kibens could have got it  but neglected, jdl reclaimed it few years ago, genta could also have it but is not interested in having to spend months here just for that

Wow, so the project of his album No Comment was already planned in the Internet-days? I taught that he recorded that album because of the way he was unemployed, making some quick money.

JDL is a real parasite. JB has just to blame Bralima, for interrupting his tour and ending by getting blocked. It seems that Papa Wemba & JB Mpiana were really lokoso ya mbongo with the ngulu-affaire.
Title: Re: Jimmy Mbonda's interview with Ado Yuhe
Post by: archos on April 27, 2020, 11:27
titina had songs and got some from mosaka thats also one of the reasons why mosaka did not made it to bercy despite even two random house employees making it,jdl was spying musicians and figured out alca was working at home with mosaka a lot and suspected them of planning a group since there was roger siding openly with armee rouge and mosaka siding with ppu with titina defending ppu against 12 so titina made it because he is titina and fans would not accept not seeing him but they were already on shaky relationship with jb,jdl knows how to make stories so true and elaborate so jb found it suspect that titina himself never came to ask to do album on the side of group album
and like i said you know wenge "boule vs contre boule" it automatically appeared like "ok since he does not ask it means he has a bad plan behind his head "
thats why in the past years he said openly who wants an album can ask,in order to expose those who wont have courage to ask but will end up "finding ways to get out of the group and doing it"
indeed but its also because they were not manageing to be as strict as koffi for example in negotiations for concerts money so ngulu was a good way to make up for it

Lol.Clan Wenge and their 12. So the "Difficile a dire mais les tetes vont tomber" was directed at Titina. Funny enough yesterday morning I was listening to BCBG albums and kept wondering what it meant and who it was meant for and off course I got the answer thru this interview.

Am thinking to myself the current musicians at BCBG are not ambitious, all this time that BCBG has not released an album, no one among them (especially the influential guys in JB's inner circle) has taken the opportunity to request for a solo album within the group. That would also test whether Mukulu is sincere when he says anyone can do a solo album provided they get permission.

They are not allowed to do it. Musicians are scared of what might happened after Metrau got blinded by the trio through spiritual attacks, because he participated on Abraham's album, they couldn't get Abraham so they hit his close friend. Nono Fudji had the chance to release a solo album but he refused and since then musicians have understood that making a solo album whitin the group will cause trouble

But the inner circle guys like JDL and Rio cant they use their good relation with the boss to lobby? For me it all boils down to lack of ambition. Permission or not an artist worth his salt can't stay without new music (unless off course you are a JB Mpiana) for close to 10 years. Then where would you draw your relevance from. Lack of ambition is what separates the two groups of Wenge.

I think that the systems are set up different. For example in Maison Mere is fight for survival is either you emerge or die, it is like a school for music and for life becauss life is exactly like Maison Mere only the strong survive this is why Lobeso almost broke down crying amd Brigade couldn't resist the 12 set up by Heritier while in BCBG JB actually cares about making people loyal to him good, you can see from the level of respect he have for Fusee, Maitre Ficarre, Genta, JDL, Rio, Kibens, Tolbert, Pajo, Ben Laden and many others that he really cares about his people well being and the people who went away from Wenge (except for Mboka Liya) went away never for money problems but because of a reason outside of that. This is good but life it is not like that. The reason why every ex BCBGeians fail it is because he is used to have everything set up for him and never had really to fight for survival. JDL, Rio and Kibens aren't interested in a solo project, they knew they would be the weakest singers especislly Rio and Kibens, JDL can't sing but he is not marketable due to his size they are good and excellent if things stay like this

Further I have indicated that musician who are recruited to BCBG differ from other bands. Ambitious artists usually end up in WMM get your limelight and leave. For BCBG is stability. A good example is Nono Fudji, he never fights for the mic.

BCGG is a weird case. At this point, we need a PhD thesis to explain what happened with JB and that group.

For instance, how can you waste a talent like Nono Fudji? 15 years ago, he had a very good buzz : guys respected him and the ladies were loving him. And he was a good singer. That's the recipe for success. So Why JB himself never tried try to produce an album for Fudji? Mystery.

I start to suspect that JB enjoys the statu quo: a mediocre band with him being the only light.

Guys groups like JB's, Koffi's, Ferre's and many others do not care about preparing their members for a solo career. The solo career furthermore it was made popular by Fally but before that Congolese music was always about collective groups or a leader with a band that will stay with him until his death. JB doesn't believe in solo projects but he is willing to produce people who asks him and since no one except Metrau and Ibrator asked him to produce his album or fund his concerts why bothering about it?

I'm not talking about solo careers, Im' jus talking about solo projects.

I mean look at Viva La Musica with Reddy, Stino, Gloria,  etc., and even Ok Jazz. So it's not a problem of being old school. You don't even have to disband the band to have solo projects on the side.

The fact that JB had a bunch of talents sitting in his group fo 15 years without a single solo project is a curiosity and a failure on his part.

You're an insider and an avid follower of our genre. But for the general public, JB was the good guy in terms of generosity and relationship with the musicians while Werra was the stingy bad guy. Those interviews might change that perception for the average listener.

JB is very soft, and does not push his musicians, he pampers them a lot, and that is why they never leave. Werrason and Kofi are tough, they push their musicians to the limit, they make them work hard. They divide and rule and apply all kind of forces to make their musicians perform. I am sure Ferre would have ended like Alain Mpela if he had stayed with BCBG

I think that things would have turned differently, if JB Mpiana took the PPU’s to Canada & the USA instead of Armee Rouge (JDL, Kibens, Bogus and co). Because in that 1 month space those JDL, Seguin and co had the chance to manipulate JB Mpiana, then also thos 3 months they spend on Linshasa before coming back to Europe again.

I remember that fans in Kinshasa were waiting for the PPU’s and they were announced for the second delegation with Champion when they came back for the bling-bling event at Stade des Martyrs, but they didn’t came.

and not even once,3 times,he always rejected even one of the zenith's should have been some sort of semi-accoustic for rumbas then musicians would change for a second part special sebene, producer tried to up the money but naaahh,jb since he did not have his "army" refused in order "not to frustrate them"

Wow Jb has horrible business skills, like who does that? I’m starting to think Kibens and co have some sort of hold on him or something like he committed a crime or something else that they know about and Jb doesn’t want it to get out hence why they’re still in the band and he never wants to leave them behind.

and this is why Koffi and Werra were ahead of him, Koffi did a lot of concerts in europe without ql from kin over the years with him only bringing a handful and the rest were europe based
