Here an audio of Nyoka Longo being dissapointed in one of the 4 musicians who ran away and the musician replying calling Nyoka Longo "Petit Nyoka" and saying that he's a faux chanteur. People on facebook are claiming that it was Lola Muana.

Absolutely true. You are extremely limited unless they found sugar mama sponsors that are already pregnant so they can begin the paper process, which is a classic tactic for DRC musicians coming to the states

But again I thought Zaiko has been having a packed calendar of concerts in and out of Congo and is one of the most expensive orchestras to hire. What's happening? why would a musician of such a band run to roam streets of the US/Europe? Are these musicians not paid well? I expect Adicky Ndebe to lose musicians this way but not Zaiko.

It's just that some musicians believe that the grass is greener on the other side, so that's why they stay in Europe, the US or Canada when their band finishes touring. It used to be like this back in the 90s. If I recall, when Quartier Latin toured Europe in 1994, a few members stayed behind. Zaiko is well-structured compared to Lacoste's band but Nyoka Longo can't stop his bandmates from not returning to Kinshasa.

It's like they said, Europe is paradise.

If its Lola as rumored then I will not have words!! Lola stands a chance to lead Zaiko one day, why would he stay in the US? Sad!! Or they only prefer old shapeless white women to playing in one vintage orchestra?

They aren't well paid. They live with gifts, etc. Nyoka Longo is known as one of the worst payers. Zaiko often lost musicians when they went on tour in Europe because of that. They lost talented musicians like Willy Bula, Yoto Delta Force, Roxy Tshimpaka, etc. One of the reasons of Zaiko's split in 1988 was about money.

That about Lola Muana was just intox from those facebook-pages. I saw the interview of Bijoux Bass yesterday and he said that the musicians who ran away were Edo Dollar who used to be Koffi Olomide during the B.E.K.-era, Loss who's a lead guitartist who used to be with Bana Ok, Yoji Muamba who's a rhythm-player who was first with Depitcho's band and Longilo who's a drummer (he was the guy who called Nyoka Longo "petit nyoka" and said that he's a faux chanteur lol").

Why did Deo Brando leave Zaiko for Quartier Latin?

Why did Deo Brando leave Zaiko for Quartier Latin?

He joined Quartier Latin because of Nana Mulenga who used to dance for Zaiko. Deo Brondo was frustated like many other Zaiko-members of that time about the way they were living. They were in Kinshasa almost 2 years without touring in Europe and were struggling very hard in Kinshasa. Nana who was 1 year without work after having left Zaiko decided to join Quartier Latin and Koffi Olomide asked to her if there weren't other musicians of Zaiko who wanted to join Quartier Latin, so she contacted Deo Brondo, Daniel 6000 and other musicians. Deo Brondo was happy since that Quartier Latin would go to Europe very soon and he was dreaming about the way Quartier Latin-members were living (being paid every month, having mercedez-benz cars as gift for Bercy, etc.), so he accepted the offer. Then Daniel 6000 came to Koffi's house and with Koffi asking if he was still a Zaiko-member with him replying yes and Koffi then looking to him strange. Then a big polemic started with Zaiko-musicians attacking Koffi Olomide on tv claiming that he wanted to kill Zaiko and the musicians of Quartier Latin attacking Zaiko. With on the end both Nyoka Longo and Koffi Olomide being invited by boss of the censorship-commission (i don't remember, its almost 20 years ago) and asked to stop with the beef.  In those weeks alot of journalist wrote anti-Koffi articles saying that he was a parasite in Congolese music, because of beeing against Papa Wemba & JB Mpiana, killing Bendoson's band by recruiting Ramazani & Christian Na Nzenze and wanting to kill Zaiko by wanting to recruit Daniel 6000 who was then seen as the best solist of Kinshasa at that time (being alot hyped in the media).

That's quite a praise to give Daniel 6000, do you agree that he was among the best in Kinshasa at the time? He certainly deserves credit for giving Zaiko a more youthful guitar tone with his lead partitions on Poison generique, Ngolu, 77×7, but I'm not sure if he was top level guitarist at the time.

Did Nouvelle Ecriture de l'an 2000 ever release an album? I know they had a lot of support from fans, but something went wrong between the guys and Christian na Nzenze defected to Quartier Latin (I believe he played keyboard on Force de Frappe) while Ramazani followed him later that year.

Yes, he was one of the back in 2000. He was coming with agressive sebenes in concerts. Papa Wemba was once so happy with him that he said that Zaiko. never recruits a “faux solist” and that Daniël would go very far in his career. But I was a little bit dissapointed when I heard the Daniel-EP, because I excepted something special.

Nouvelle Ecriture l’an 2000 didn’t release a album. Pompom Miyake decided to leave the band when they were close to finishe the album. He wanted to rejoin Papa Wemba’s band, but Wemba’s staff didn’t accept him. Then one month later both Ramazani & Christian Na Nzenze decided to join Quartier Latin. Which made Bendoson to decided to erase their songs and add 5 songs to the album  (Ramazani had 2, Pompom Miyake 2, Christian 1 and Bendoson 5) to make it a solo album. In meantime he started struggling and people started to mock him even those who were first supporting him and attack of Jean Apocalyps in the A La Une-album and Zenith videotape made it worser. Bendoson decided then to join Jolino’s band with Babia Ndonga and the album not getting  released.

Force de Frappe was played by Philippe Guez. Koffi didn’t take an keyboard-player ln that tour. He left Ondoma Motema behind in Kinshasa , played Bercy with a session-artist and decided to perform without a keyboard-player. Then after the tour Christian joined and sharing the keyboards with Ondoma. When they went to Zenith, Koffi prefered to take Christian instead Ondo. After Zenith they went on tour in the USA and Christian ran away. Which made Philippe Guez playing Effrakata all by himself. From then Koffi never brought a keyboard-player with him until  the of Zenith 2009. On thetour of 2005-06 hired Brice Malonga who collaborated with him on Monde Arabe.

Longilo used to drum in Basquille Loningisa of Bimi Ombale and Empire Bakuba.
