Yeah, Nico Kassanda was Congo’s first solist. He was a member of Grand Kalle’s band African Jazz and played there from 1953 to 1963 (in 1961 he left briefly to form a band with Tabu Ley, but they returned quickly after negociations). In 1963 he formed African Fiesta with his brother Déchaud Mwamba, Roger Izeidi and  Tabu Ley. In 1965 the band split with Tabu Ley forming African Fiesta National with Roger Izeidi  and Dr Nico renaming the band African Fiesta Sukisa. There would the first time in the Congolese music history a tribal rivalery starting with people coming form the Bandundu-province supporting Tabu Ley and those coming from Kasai supporting Dr Nico. Like since the start of Congolese Music there would also shots getting fired. Tabu Ley attacking Dr Nico with the song Likala Moto (calling Nico a drunk man) and Dr Nico reacting with the song Cimetiere (also known as Toyebi Nganga Na Bino). From 1973 Nico started to lose it when his musiclabel in Belgium became bankrupt. Later on he joined Tabu Ley’s band Afrisa briefly and migrated to West Africa. He died in 1985.

The GOAT. Imagine if him, Franco and Bavon Marie Marie lived longer lives. I’m getting goosebumps thinking of the records they could’ve made together.

I don’t think Beniko will go to Ado Yuhe cause Ado asks the dumbest questions like “why did Koffi lock the dancers up” or “are you jealous of Fally” “did you see Koffi beat the dancers” “did you see Koffi lock them in their rooms”

LOL @these questions. But knowing ADO, he can really ask those stupid questions.

"Hmmm Beniko, mbote ebimi". LOL

Nah, Ado is not the right one to interview Beniko. In fact, the only person that could give us a proper interview of a giant like Beniko is the Sekele guy, but he's in Congo...

Lol. Soooo that is why Niska, Maitre Gims, Naz, Youssoupha and many other French Congolese singers do not go on his interviews

Yeah, that's his name. Thank you. He's without a doubt the best in the field right now. His knowledge of the genre is deep and his skills in conducting the interview are very good.
