they did a pre-recording of Monde Arabe in Kinshasa (them not being sure if they would get visa's). But they ended up by re-recording the whole album in Europe. When Acide ran away, there was a point that Koffi was thinking about erasing Acide's voice and letting Kerozene do his cri's but Kerozene refused. During the tour, many Koffi fans were complaining that the atalaku-department was failing in concerts. Mainly due to people being used by the kerozene-brigade combo and affaire d'etat still having succes but them suddenly seeing acide, cnn and apocalyps and them not really being able to bring the same atmosphere back in concerts.

I think that the problem of Heroes National was them not having any pressure when recording the generique. Back when they started recording the album nobody released an album and because of the ngulu-affair it was not sure if those albums would come (quartier latin being the only band in the schengen-area). Then when the album got close to get released Koffi starting to have problems with justice in Kinshasa which delayed the release for months

Why did Acide run away? Did he fall out with Koffi?

according to acide himself he was scared when they said that in quartier latin atalaku's just last 2 years and him on the last moment deciding to stay in europe. but if i remember well i dont know if it was fofo, ramazani or somebody else saying that there was a problem with passeports about visa's being expired or something like that when going to switserland. musicians like acide, deo, ramazani and fofo being mentioned.

anyway his departure did not really effect quartier latin. he was not really special. before the release of monde arabe they did already months without him. so it was easy to forget him. in the same period golbert came and was later joined by mukusa ya mbwa. this made some people thinking that mukusa ya mbwa being acide. others thinking that it was kerozene since that he returned to quartier latin in europe for some concerts.  its only since 2009/10 that heroes national started to become a succes in weddings and parties due to the mix of belange deluxe who used to make compilations of weddings. but back when monde arabe came out the generique flopped very hard and alerte generale with 7eme lecon of les marquis dominating it.  journalists keeping asking koffi why the generique hasn't succes despite the album's succes and koffi saying that music is not only about generique and sebenes, giving the example of when being in bed with your wife or girlfriend that would listen songs like aliya, eputsha and pomme verte and not the way atalaku's are screaming.

Ahaha why do Kpffi hates the concept of Atalaku so much? He is kinda forced because people don't give a damn about his rhumbas with Cindy and usually the generique is the most viewed known song but why does he have so much hate for Atalakus? I don't think Kerozene, Brigade, CNN would have so much success if Maison Mere and especially Wenge 4x 4 didn't have their success with their aggressive style of Ndombolo

I'm guessing Koffi was mad about Ramazani and Fofo because he didn't credit them on Monde Arabe, they got fed up with payment or they stayed in Europe for long term papers?

i re-watched ramazani's interview. he said that when the europe-tour came to end their visa's expired but there was a concert planned in switserland. and koffi wanted still to let them travel there without passeport like they do always. although being in the schengen-area, in the period of 2001-2006 there were sometimes controls done by police due to war of  terror against ben laden's al-qaeda. ramazani asked his passeport to fally and fally saying that he didn't had his passeport. because of the risks ramazani, fofo, acide, deo and cnn refused to travel without passeport to switserland. knowing that koffi would be seriously mad against him ramzani decided to leave. fofo, acide, deo & cnn probably left for the same reasons. quartier latin did the remaining concerts without them and returned to kinshasa.

Wouldn't that be Koffi's fault for not making sure their passports were valid for the entire tour? You could definitely feel Ramazani and Fofo absence in Danger de Mort, both were good arrangers as well as guitarists. But it allowed Bourman Idolo and Poupa Mystic to be discovered for their talent.

Of all the guitarists that have came and went in Quartier Latin, who was your favorite soloist? Mine was Lebou Kabuya, but Beniko was a close second then everyone else.

he probably not wanted to spent extra money to extend their visa's for just a few weeks or the risk to get a rejection. ferre did the same thing with his musicians in 2008 and them going every their with their luggage knowing that they could get deported on every moment which also ended up by happening. the musicians of wenge maison mere were spending their last weeks in europe during a la que leu leu also without visa's and their request of extension of their visa's being rejected. possible due to werrason's arrestation by the belgian police for the ngulu-affair due to an angry woman who got scammed but werrason getting liberated. werrason ended up by getting difficulties to get visa's because of that incident in the following years for the schengen area and politicians having to get involved until finally getting it for the alerte generale tour. koffi himself started also getting difficulties to get visa's for the next europe. the thing that saved him was that the tour-promoter asked visa's for sweden and them being able to tour in the schengen area because of sweden being part of it.

yeah it could been better with the two guys. but i dont think that fofo and ramazani's absence affected the album. if i remember well fofo ending up by playing 1 or 2 songs because they reworked a small part in europe. in quartier latin you dont hear rhythm guitars often compared to victoria eleison and viva la musica where it plays an important role. its often  philphe guez dominating and playing that role with his keyboards until the sebenes coming in. i think that its more philphe guez's absence that made danger de mort being different than the rest of quartier latin albums and koffi's solo albums. he was working with koffi since koweit rive gauche 1992 and was from then on every album until monde arabe. in danger de mort it was jc tshikuta doing most arrangement along with the new mbetenge domingo. jc tshikuta did a good job but it was  way of playing is not the same like philpe guez.

lebou kabuya was the best (rip). i would like to hear late yoto nkelani "delta force" (felly tyson's mentor) in quartier latin but he left for zaiko in 1991. that guy was a beast. both felly and yoto had jean goubald as mentor. i heard from many people of lemba that jean goubald used to be an extremely talented solist before totally switching to foreign music. late meridjo recruited him in zaiko when yoto left but he difficulties since that he wasnt playing congolese music anymore for years and ending up leaving after a few weeks.

I wonder why Koffi doesn't work with Philphe Guez anymore, some of his best projects had him as a keyboardist and arranger. I did research and apparently Guez hasn't worked on Congolese music since 2013, that probably explains why Koffi's rhumbas don't have the same impact as before.

Back somewhere in 2017 I saw gospel singer Moise Mbiye recording a video with Phillipe Guez who playing keyboard for him in a studio. The thing is that due to the big succes Ferre Gola's collaboration had with Olivier Tshimanga most Congolese artists wanting to do the same. Them not more wanting those programmed rumba's those rumba's with acoustic guitars. Now its rare to see rumba's who were done in the style of the late 90s/early 2000s.

Koffi Olomidé last collaboration with phillipe guez was on bek. but most songs were done by mbetenge's conception alot of acoustic guitar (bb gout, sixieme chantiers, l'eau l'eau l'eau,..). in 2009 koffi had problems with the french justice because which made him not come to france anymore and him working with local arrangers and quartier latin itself.

Koffi's rumba's had still the same impact like they used to have. back in 2008 & 2009 tracks like soupou, sixieme chantier, l'eau l'eau l'eau & bb gout were played alot at parties and weddings. the song ikea which made cindy knew had a big impact all women that failed to get married after their 30s were called ikea. the differnece is that people started to complain that started to sing about sex in his songs (the song katagourouma as example). the last rumba's of koffi that were a big succes are from the abacadabra album. the songs etoile d'etat (which is played in until this day in parties), mosisi, desormais, je t'aime, emballes moi & 12eme dan were played alot in at weddings and birthday parties in 2012 & 2013. its from 13eme apotre that koffi started to fail in the rumba-department.

Why was 13eme apotre so long? It's like four albums worth of music and roughly half is any good lol

its the demand of donors to have song on that album. also he wasn't able to tour in europe so for him its was the only occassion to make money. just before cindy's album, koffi went on tv saying that he was working on his last album solo of his music-career. back then he used to say proud on tv that he would the first congo bandleader to release an album of 3cds. it were the last years that congolese people were buying cds. seeing that koffi was working on a 3cd project, werrason who had a huge demand of donors to have songs on fleche ingeta (which was orginally malewa suite et fin vol. 2) saw it as an occasion to make from it a 3cd album instead of only releasing 2cds, having debts from donors and to wait for another album. koffi wanting still to be the pioneer and the demand growing with the day, made from 13eme apotre a 4 cd project. the album flopped hard when it came out and the song selfie being the only song to be a succes.

the flop of his 13eme apotre made other bandleaders despite mocking him about having 40 songs, afraid to release their musicprojects. because they all had albums of 35, 40, 50 songs. them all accepting the money from donors since that because of the concertban in europe no other way being there to make money. fabregas who released his double album je pense "poison"/"antidote" of 38 songs saw his album also flopping with only the generiques doing it well. this all made bandleaders coming with the strategy to release the projects in volumes. karmapa for example came with caligula volume 1 & 2 (he promised that he would come with volume 3 & 4 to release the remaining songs but it never came). ferre gola released qqjd in 3 volumes. jb mpiana wanted to do the same thing but ended up not releasing balle de match and waiting until 2022. it was a good strategy to times had changed an albums not having the same succes like it used to have in the 1990s, 2000s when all songs from A to Z were known. this time 5 songs max being a succes and often being forgotten in no time.
