I know Do Akongo left Quarter Latin as soon as Fally came, but did he ever have in put maybe in terms of songwriting to Fally?
Did Do Akongo really believe he'd succeed as a solo artist when he started his own group? Was he inspired by Extra Musica and OK Jazz in terms of instrumentalists being successful group leaders?Or did he think his songwriting abilities would lure talented people to his group? I always wondered what motivates artists back then to go solo when there's plenty of examples of failed attempts. I'm guessing producers write a check that's too hard to refuse
Maybe that team of do could have become a strong group if things worked out well, fudji eboa lotin omba their younger brothers atshuda robinio, equaliseur on animation and co,instead it ended up a stepping stone like depitcho's group for example or baby ndombe's
